1911 – 2003

LEWISTON – Yvonne E. Desjardins, 92, of 100 Campus Ave., died Monday evening, Nov. 3, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

Born in Lac Megantic Canada April 18, 1911, she was the daughter of Pierre and Delia Pomerleau Desrochers. She moved to Lewiston at an early age and was educated in local schools.

Her work included working in the local shoe industry at the Pepperrell Mills for 25 years until its closing. During her retirement she worked part-time at Sts. Peter and Paul Rectory.

She was a member of the Dames Ste Anne of Sts. Peter and Paul and Holy Cross churches. She was also a member of Cercle d’Youville, Marchande de Bonheure, Tiers Ordre di St. Dominique, Covenant 50 and the prayer group at Holy Family Church.

She was an avid knitter, enjoyed traveling, playing cards, beano, socializing with friends and activities at d’Youville.

She is survived by one son, Robert and his wife Simone Desjardins of Auburn; one daughter, Jeannette Beaulieu of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Kathy and her husband Paul Fairbrother, Paulette and her husband Bob Goulet, Steven and his wife Lori Beaulieu, and Linda Therriault; eight great-grandchildren, Amy (Goulet) Packard, Jenica (Fairbrother) Barry, Adam, Ryan and Julie Fairbrother, Randy Therriault, Tiffany and Jessica Beaulieau; three great-great-grandchildren, Nathan, Madison and Zackery; one sister, Bertha McDonough of Flushing, Long Island, N.Y.; and one brother, Robert Desrochers of Chicopee, Mass.

She was predeceased by her husband, a well known sign painter, Omer Desjardins, who died Oct. 26 1989; four brothers, Leo, Aime, Hector and Roger.
