Yarmouth – Norman L. Ring, 94, of Cumberland Street, Yarmouth, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in Brunswick following a brief illness. He was born in Portland, a son of Harry E. and Lucy L. Loring Ring.

He graduated in 1928 from Yarmouth High School.

In 1931, he married Virginia Hewitt and began working with his brother in plumbing and heating. He later opened Rings Gas & Appliance Store, a hardware store which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1977.

He enjoyed camping, using computers, and his ham radio. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League.

He is survived by a son, Andrew N. Ring of Livingston, Texas; one daughter, Nancy R. Sawyer of Yarmouth; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Virginia Hewitt Ring, in 1995; and a granddaughter, Shelley Ashcroft in 1998.
