Parent-teacher conferences are a yearly event held in November.

PARIS – Time is running out for parents of middle and high school children to get a guaranteed spot at the parent-teacher conference on Monday.

Buffy Nason, the guidance secretary who’s scheduling appointments, said the deadline is 2 p.m. Thursday.

Parents who cannot schedule an appointment on Monday can set one up at a later date.

They can even walk in and try to set one up Monday, but she said scheduling makes appointments easier for all involved.

Students at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and Oxford Hills Middle School are invited to the annual parent-teacher conference day.

“It’s as regular as election day,” said Nason, who has been in the guidance center for 18 years. “It’s something that happens every November, usually around Veterans Day.”

SAD 17 pupils will have the day off. Children in kindergarten to sixth grade will be off because of a teacher workshop day.

Nason said appointments usually last 10 to 20 minutes.

“We usually have a very good turnout,” she said.

It is also the day where parents can pick up their child’s report card.

The meetings run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Any open time a teacher may have will be posted on an appointment sheet outside that teacher’s classroom.

Parents can sign up there.
