UNITY – Central Maine Community College placed six scorers in double digits Tuesday night, using smothering defensive pressure and nine 3-pointers to turn back Unity College, 101-67, in men’s basketball.
Poland’s Chris Brackett led the way with 20 points for the Mustangs (2-0), who led 46-31 at the half.
Jeremy Thomas added 15 points for CM. Pete Callahan and Josh Berard chipped in 14 each and combined for five treys. Patrick Dempsey contributed 12 points and Lance Poland of Greene tallied 10.
Jeremy Kervin led Unity with 23 points. Noah Schneider chalked up 17, and Matt Kent dropped in a dozen. The trio combined for 10 field goals from beyond the arc.
Holloman, Swett score 20 apiece as women cruise
UNITY – Lakeesha Holloman of Lewiston and Ashley Swett each scored 20 points to lead unbeaten Central Maine Community College to a 76-49 women’s basketball win over Unity on Tuesday night.
Lindsey Smith and Kristen Hewitt each had 15 points for Unity (0-2).
Freshman Nicole Hutchinson, a Mountain Valley graduate, had an outstanding game on the boards for the Mustangs (2-0).
