Finnish Society

WEST PARIS – The Finnish American Heritage Society will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Heritage Center on Maple Street. Speaker David Compton of Buckfield will speak about writing his novel “A Filthy Business.”

Compton served in the U.S. Army’s Intelligence sector in the 1960s and used his now declassified knowledge of the business for the background in his tale of counter espionage in Germany.

He will have several copies of his book available for purchasing and signing.

A coffee social will be served following the program.

Conservation election

OXFORD – The Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District will hold its annual election of the Board of Supervisors on Monday, Nov. 17. Registered voters living within the boundaries of Oxford County are eligible to vote. Ballots are available at the Conservation District office at 1570 Main St., Suite 10, Oxford Shopping Plaza, Oxford. This year there is one elected position open for a three-year term.
