WILTON – The Wilton Senior Citizens will not meet during the fall and winter months. The group will resume meetings on April 7 at SeniorsPlus.

End of Life

FARMINGTON – The End of Life Conversations series will conclude with a presentation by Pastor and Hospital Chaplain Marriott Churchill at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The series has been sponsored by Western Maine Palliative Care and Hospice Coalition and has explored the issues in end of life care. The sessions are open to the public. Reading Night

FARMINGTON – The sixth annual Prime Time Reading Night will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Mallett School. Children and their care givers are invited to come back to school in their pajamas to listen to bedtime stories read by a variety of guest readers. The gym will be open for families to read together and families with preschool children will have the opportunity for their preschoolers to choose a free book to keep, compliments of the Reading Is Fundamental Program. This event is held in recognition of National Children’s Book Week.

Garden Club

FARMINGTON – The Mount Blue Area Garden Club will hold its November meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18, downstairs at the Farmington Municipal building. It will begin at 12:30 p.m. with refreshments and a social half hour with the business meeting at 1 p.m. and the program will directly follow. This meeting will feature “mystery guests” who will talk about and demonstrate fall arrangements. The public is welcome. The club will also decorate the Titcomb House with holiday greenery for Chester Greenwood Day on Dec. 6.

Homeland Security

SALEM – The Franklin County Firemen’s Association will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Mount Abram High School Library. It is being hosted by the Salem Fire Dept. All fire departments should be represented at this meeting. The major topic of discussion will be the Homeland Security grants. The group needs input from all county departments as needs may be different from area to area. There will also be a discussion on the county fire training committee’s recent meeting and plans for the coming year. Refreshments will be served and door prizes drawn following the meeting. All members and guests are welcome to attend this meeting.

Children’s Book Week

FARMINGTON – Students and staff at Mallett School will celebrate their love of books and reading by dressing up as characters from some of their favorite books and parading from the school to Main Street and back on Friday, Nov. 21. The parade will leave the school at 2 p.m. and organizers say they would like to have people along their path to cheer the characters on. The event is being held in recognition of National Children’s Book Week.

Pie orders

FARMINGTON – Pie orders will be accepted until Monday, Nov. 24, for the annual Thanksgiving Pie Sale sponsored by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wilton. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon or until the pies are sold out on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Twice Sold Tales Book Store on Main Street. Pies may be pre-ordered by calling 645-2312, 645-4195, 778-4511 or by calling the church at 645-2639. Pre-sale pie orders must be picked up by 10 a.m. at Twice Sold Tales on the day of the sale.
