LEWISTON – Catherine Helen (O’Connell) Boucher, 80, died suddenly of a massive heart attack on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Born March 15, 1923, she was the daughter of Frank and Delphine (Cyr) O’Connell of Lewiston. She was a life long member of St. Patrick’s Church. She was baptized, attended school, graduating from St. Patrick’s School in 1936.

She graduated from Lewiston High School in June of 1940. She was a member and past secretary of the Rosary Sodality, joining in 1953. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and working as a volunteer at the local thrift store. She was member of St. Patrick’s Silver Liners, A.A.R.P., Horizon 55, Covenant 50, and the Circle of the Blessed Sacrament for several years.

She walked at the Auburn Mall and most recently at the Lewiston Mall. During World War II, she was the president of Normand Dionne VFW 2299 during the time of VE and VJ days. She also served as Secretary of the Auxiliary. She worked at Rogers Jewelry Store, and also worked in the cash office of King’s Department Store in Auburn for 17 years, retiring in May of 1983.

She later worked part-time at the Fanny Farmer in the Lewiston Mall. She was a very friendly and outgoing person. She loved to crochet and work outdoors. She was married to Adelard “Al” Boucher on April 27, 1946 at St. Patrick’s Church by the late Rev. James Keegan.

She leaves two daughters, Mrs. John (Diana) Srebnick of Longmeadow, Mass., and Mrs. Paul (Jane) Boucher Grand Bois of Lewiston; one son, James B. Boucher and wife Ann of Mandeville, La.; a brother, Frank and wife Pauline O’Connell of Lewiston; two sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Woodhead of Windham, and Elizabeth “Betty” Terrell of New Lenox, Ill.; four grandchildren, Brian Srebnick and wife Michelle of Longmeadow, Mass., Darren Srebnick of Nashville, Tenn., Ryan and Laura Boucher of Mandeville, La.; and one great-grandson, Nolan Srebnick of Longmeadow, Mass.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years on March 13, 2002; her parents; and a brother, George, who was presumed killed in June of 1943, on a mission over Germany, but his whereabouts were not known until June of 1950. His body was buried with a group in Jefferson Barracks at the National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
