AUBURN – The Auburn Exchange Club has made a $1,000 donation to the Pine Tree Council, Boy Scouts of America.
The Abenaki District (which covers an area from Lewiston-Auburn to Bethel) has approximately 1,000 Scouts. The council has completed its fall recruitment campaign and has added more than 300 new members.
Scouting offers a variety of programs, including two summer camps – Camp Hinds in Raymond and Camp Bombazeen in Belgrade. In addition to all the traditional programs, the Scouts are involved in the Explorer program, which consists of job shadowing (for example police and firefighters) and giving teenage Scouts hands-on experience in what jobs are available.
The Auburn Exchange Club has made the donation with funds from the Auburn Exchange Club’s Twin Cities Gun Show. This year marks the 27th annual Twin Cities Gun Show, which will be held at the Lewiston Armory on Saturday and Sunday, March 27 and 28.
