GREENE – The Baptist Church of Greene has welcomed a new pastor, the Rev. Chester A. Garrison III, at a service of installation.
Garrison was born and raised in Fairfield, Conn. He has served churches in Manset, Blue Hill, Bar Harbor, Calais and Dover-Foxcroft, and is a member of the American Baptist Churches of Maine and American Baptist Evangelicals.
Garrison and his wife, Barbara, were involved in child evangelism from 1974 to 1990. He served as supply pastor for the Seacoast Missionary Society of Maine. He is presently chairman of the board for the China Lake Conference Center in China and moderator for the Bowdoinham Baptist Churches Association for the American Baptist Churches of Maine.
Garrison was educated at Husson College, Good Shepherd Bible Institute, Berean Bible College and completed his studies through Institute for Ministries of the American Baptist Churches of Maine.
Garrison said he and his wife are looking forward to a prosperous and challenging ministry in the Greene area. “We can’t wait to see just what God will do in the Baptist Church of Greene, for this is a church joined together and growing in Christ,” said Garrison.
The Garrisons have been married for 37 years. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.
