COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Glen Murray had two goals and Dan McGillis and Brian Rolston each had a goal and an assist – all in the first period – in the Boston Bruins’ 4-0 victory over Columbus on Friday night.

Felix Potvin stopped 24 shots for his second shutout of the season and the 30th of his 12-year career.

Jeff Jillson and Joe Thornton added two assists for the Bruins, who are unbeaten in their last four games (3-0-1-0), have an eight-game points streak (5-0-1-2) and have scored points in their last nine road games (7-0-1-1).

For perhaps the first time in Columbus’ four years as a franchise, the fans booed the team off the ice after the opening period.

By then it was 4-0 and the Bruins had outshot the Blue Jackets 13-4. Boston dominated in every facet. Columbus was playing its third game in three arenas in the last four nights and looked lethargic and passive.

McGillis notched his first goal of the season on a wrister from the right dot 5:09 in.

Twenty-four hours after the Blue Jackets gave up five power-play goals in a 5-2 loss at Ottawa, the Bruins made it 2-0 on their first man-advantage chance. Murray’s hard shot from the left dot beat Marc Denis high on the glove side for his fourth of the season.

Rolston made it 3-0 when he skated unimpeded over the blue line and then avoided Darryl Sydor who dived to block the shot. Denis blocked most of Rolston’s shot but the puck still trickled into the net for Rolston’s sixth of the year.

There were sarcastic cheers from a capacity crowd of 18,136 when Denis made a routine save soon after.

Denis then thwarted Murray on a cross-crease feed from Thornton, but Jillson’s shot from a hard angle was redirected by Murray to make it 4-0.

Blue Jackets coach and general manager Doug MacLean looked away, shaking his head.

Counting the opening 20 minutes, the Bruins outscored the Blue Jackets 19-2 over their previous seven periods.

Columbus replaced Denis with Fred Brathwaite prior the second period, which was met by derisive applause when announced.

Potvin was seldom tested. In the final minutes, he did stop Rick Nash on a backhander and again in the slot off a pass from David Vyborny.

The Bruins won the last two meetings between the teams 7-2 last season and 8-0 the year before.

Notes: Columbus C Todd Marchant was scratched with the flu. … Mike Sullivan is 9-2-3-2 as Bruins head coach. … The Blue Jackets put C Espen Knutsen (hip pointer) on the injured list.
