Lewiston man suffered fractures and internal injuries
LEWISTON – A 54-year-old Lewiston man who was struck by car on Saturday remained in stable but critical condition one day after the crash.
Daniel Michaud suffered fractures, cuts and internal injures when he was hit just after dark, Police Sgt. David St. Pierre said Sunday.
Apparently, Michaud was walking from his home on Main Street to a friend’s house on Russell Street when he was struck in a westbound lane.
Police said they still do not know why Michaud was in the path of the car, driven by Lisa Evans, 31, of Lewiston. However, they said no charges are pending against Evans, nor do they believe alcohol or speed were factors against her.
People in a car behind Evans’ Toyota Camry told police they saw no sign of Michaud before the crash, spotting only a bag he had been carrying lift into the air. Michaud hit the windshield of the car.
