WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society will meet for a Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 13. Potluck supper will be at 6 p.m. followed by the party at 7. Members are to bring gifts for the same sex.

Each member of the society has signed up to do a program within the year. At the November meeting, Mary Billings played cylinders on her old Edison phonograph. Among the selections were “Red Wing,” “Irish Reel,” “Tramp, Tramp, Tramp,” “You’ll Have to Wait Til My Ship Comes In,” and “Midnight Waltz.” Billings also read an essay on the record, “Preacher and the Bear,” which she played during the program.

Paul Billings noted in the finance report that the society had to cancel its order for magnet frames because only one type of frame was offered. It was also noted that film producer Larry Young had taken pictures in the museum to do something on the old crank phones that existed in Bryant Pond. Curator Larry Billings said the society is beginning its 25th year and he donated a bouquet of artificial orchids to celebrate. He also previously gave a reproduction weathervane and a chandelier.

Elaine Roberts and Ruth Cox provided refreshments.
