Town Office hours were discussed, this time with the board reaching the decision.

LIVERMORE FALLS – After an hour in executive session with attorney Paul Mills Monday night, selectmen voted to rescind their Oct. 6 vote regarding the Judd property on Route 17.

That action revoked a permit for the Judds that would have allowed them to replace a trailer that had burned.

The board gave no reason for the reversal of the previous action, only that they were acting on the advice of attorney.

Chairman Clayton Putnam said selectmen hope this marks the end of the matter.

Town Office hours were also discussed again, this time with the board reaching the decision to have the office open late on the first Wednesday of each month beginning in January.

That day the office will not open until 11 a.m., but stay open until 6:30 p.m. to accommodate people with work hours that make it difficult to get to the office by 4 p.m.

Putnam thanked the Dispatch Committee for their efforts on the study they completed recently, but selectmen also expressed concern that the work had not been as thorough as requested.

Mainly, the committee had decided early on to not pursue having the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Office do some of the dispatching so there was no proposal from ASO, only one from Jay.

The Jay proposal was not well received by the board because it would have no major cost savings over a period of time.

Selectmen indicated their disappointment with Jay for its lack of cooperation on regionalization.

After discussing appointment of a new committee to look into the ASO situation, the board agreed to ask the county directly for a proposal to get figures for comparison.

Town Manager Alan Gove will draw up plans and possible costs for the structure changes and dedicated phone line to create a safe haven at the police station entrance.

The Boston Post Cane will be presented to the town’s oldest citizen, Kathleen Poland, 98, at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the town office.

Citizens are asked to serve on a budget committee by giving their names to the town office.

In other business, the board signed a regional resolution with Lewiston and other Androscoggin towns and named Gove as their representative.

Turner will host a similar session from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at its town office, also promoting a regional effort.

Selectmen agreed to purchase a used trailer so the town’s cardboard can be hauled to Winthrop. On hand to discuss the proposal was David Smith, who heads Winthrop public works.

A request for a street light on Hidden Lane at Cargill Street was made by the Neighborhood Crime Watch and the board is to look at the area so a decision can be made at the Dec. 1 meeting.

A joint session with Livermore selectpersons and SAD 36 directors is planned for Dec. 4.
