Here at Lewiston Middle School we have a new woodworking teacher, Mr. Joseph Barth.
Mr. Barth started his career teaching eighth grade Industrial Arts in South Portland in 1973. He took a break from teaching and spent the past 24 years at Fairchild Semiconductor. Mr. Barth enjoys teaching so much that he decided to go back to teaching.
He enjoys boating, fishing, and working with wood and making projects for his home and family. He believes that there are certain basic woodworking skills that everyone should know. Some items he has created are built- in bookcases, rocking horses, and furniture. Mr. Barth lives with his wife in New Gloucester in a 240 year old house.
Mr. Barth hopes to have a good year at LMS. The staff and students welcome him and hope he will have a good year.
