OTISFIELD – Pleasant Lake/Parker Pond Association President Joel Bloom has submitted a petition to selectmen requesting funds to continue inspecting boats for milfoil.

During their meeting Wednesday night, selectmen accepted the petition that will place the $4,000 request on the annual town meeting warrant in March. The petition needed 66 signatures for consideration; 215 were collected in three hours on Election Day.

In addition to boat inspections, the article calls for using the funds for lake surveys and water quality testing.

Bloom told selectmen the association formed an educational committee that plans to present a milfoil program to students and teachers at Otisfield Community School.

There are also plans for a membership committee and to organize a special fund-raising annual event. Anyone interested can call 627-4707.

In other business, the board approved holiday hours for the transfer station. It will be closed on Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day and will reopen the Saturday after these holidays. It will also be closed on Christmas and will reopen the day after Christmas from 1 to 8 p.m.
