Without so much as a nod to the voters of the state, Massachusetts judges have decided that a union between two people of the same sex is a marriage.

Last year the Legislature there could have put this matter to a vote and placed the question on a referendum for the people of the state to decide. That is what this country is supposed to base its decisions on. The rule of the people, not the social science project of a group of judges.

I would point out the definition of marriage in a dictionary “to join as husband and wife.” Short and sweet. No sidebars about homosexual behavior. We are constantly bombarded with how it is the same for heterosexual and homosexual people as far as what they represent.

There is a glaring point that makes anyone with a lick of common sense pause – marriage has always been about a union where reproduction of the two partners is a common theme.

If the gay community wishes a contract for a “union” or partnership, let them have it. But they are not now, and never will be, a “married” couple. Just because a group of liberal judges with a radical agenda issues proclamations as opposed to the vote of the majority, this will never be accepted by the majority of the population.
