The annual event has been a tradition for at least 20 years.

MEXICO – Jack Arsenault remembers watching Santa and Mrs. Claus parading down Main Street the day after Christmas when he was a kid.

So the firefighter knows the annual event meant to kick off the Christmas season for Mexico people is at least 20 years old, and probably older.

This year is no different.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Franklin Savings Bank. Santa and Mrs. Claus will travel along Main Street in a sleigh, stop in front of the fire station to officially light the Christmas tree, then continue on to Maddy’s Pizza. There, the entourage will turn around and proceed to the parking lot at the rear of the fire station.

Children will have a chance to tell Santa what they’d like for Christmas and receive a bag of goodies from Santa’s helpers, the Mexico Firefighters Relief Association, which has been sponsoring the event since the beginning.

Arsenault, organizer of the annual holiday festivity, said Mexico firetrucks and police cruisers and perhaps Med-Care Ambulance Service will take part in the parade.
