Christmas Giving Tree tags will be available at the Town Office, beginning Monday, Dec. 1.

Ornaments (tags) are placed on the tree with the name of the gift wanted by those less fortunate. Donors are welcome to look over the tags and take the tag or tags listing the gift they’d like to donate. The gifts are to be brought to the tree with the tag attached. The gifts will be distributed anonymously by volunteers in time for Christmas.

Those who wish to give, but are unable to get out to shop, may donate money or gift wrapping. For further information on giving a gift or placing a tag on the tree, people can call Debbie Larrabee, 353-6925.

Auburn: County approves partnership

The County Commission has approved a resolution supporting the Municipal/County Collaborative Partnership.

The partnership – of Androscoggin County government, the cities of Lewiston and Auburn and all of the county’s towns – seeks to find ways to consolidate services to reduce costs, while providing necessary services.

Several municipalities have approved similar resolutions. At least one representative from each city and town will serve on a steering committee.

Leeds: Board alternates needed

Selectmen are looking for people to fill two board positions. One alternate member of the Planning Board and one alternate member of the Appeals Board are needed.

Alternates attend meetings and vote if enough regular members aren’t present to form a quorum. Alternate members are often elevated to full voting positions on the boards.

Any Leeds resident interested in either of these appointed positions should contact the municipal office at 524-5171.
