1948 – 2003

BOSTON – Ken (Kenneth E.) Additon, 55, of General Turner Hill Road, Turner, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, at Massachusetts General Hospital with his loving family at his side following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston June 18, 1948, a son of Elden and Marion (Hodgkins) Additon and was a graduate of Leavitt Institute. He received a BS degree from the University of Maine at Orono in 1971, where he was a four year member of the baseball team and served as Captain.

He also attended the Darden School of Banking in Virginia. He worked many years in the banking industry and was currently employed as VicePresident-Market Manager for United Kingfield Bank. Formerly, he was a Regional Vice President of Commercial Lending at Northeast Bank. He also spent several years as a small business lender with Fleet Bank, and in 1994 was named FAME Banker of the Year.

Early in his career he spent time with Farm Credit Service in Auburn and had also spent a number of years as a Regional Sales Manager for Agway Inc. in Syracuse, N.Y.

He was a member of the High St. Congregational Church in Auburn and was very involved in community services including serving on the Turner Comprehensive Plan Committee and the Turner Board of Appeals. He chaired the finance committee for the Lewiston-Auburn United Way and served as President of the Lewiston Development Corporation.

He was a board member for the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council and served on the board of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club and spent 17 years coaching youth baseball in Turner where he also founded the Andy Valley Legion Team.

In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, golfing, hunting, and building stone walls, which area neighbors and friends could always recognize as his workmanship, but most of all he enjoyed all the special times spent with his family and friends, and beloved pets.

He leaves his loving wife and best friend of 31 years, Jan Additon, whom he married in Houlton on Feb. 5, 1972; two sons, Christopher Additon and fiancee Lara Bailey of Walpole, Mass., and Matthew Additon and Kammie Blount of Gray; his mother, Marion Additon of Leeds; three brothers, Errol Additon and wife Kathleen of Leeds, Keith Additon and wife Kay of Cooperstown, N.Y., and Ellis Additon of Vassalboro; five nieces; and his mother and father-in-law, George and Dola Lilley of Houlton.
