This letter is in response to “Police report: Guay targeted” (Nov. 20). The mayor of Auburn has a right to go to a bar and have a couple of beers, as does the Auburn Police Department. People that are driving with a blood alcohol level of .01 are not the problem.
The police department should target the real criminals, not the made up ones. It seems to me if you feel someone is impaired or having an obvious problem, a police officer, especially, would offer assistance to that person.
Letting the mayor drive, when the off-duty officers felt he was impaired shows to me that the police department is not concerned for its community. Friends don’t let friends or enemies drive drunk.
