AUBURN – The City Council is scheduled to vote Monday, Dec. 1, on whether to borrow $3.5 million to help pay for a library expansion.
The meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. in council chambers in the Auburn City Building.
The Auburn Public Library will be renovated and expanded to the area currently home to the Auburn City Building. Those offices are being moved next summer to the Auburn Hall building at Court Street and Mechanics Row. Plans call for library construction to start soon afterward.
The expanded library will feature a larger children’s section and a separate area for young adult books, computer classrooms, community meeting rooms and a café.
The library has been raising the money to pay for the expansion through donations and organizational grants.
