People in Kingfield will be decking the halls and caroling on the common to welcome the Christmas season.

KINGFIELD – The annual Kingfield Christmas tree lighting is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5, and a few more fun events have been added to the annual event.

Day’s schedule:

6:15 p.m.: The church bell rings as the Kingfield tree lighting ceremony begins. Trees are lit along Depot, Main and Maple streets.

6:30 p.m.: The church bell rings as the lights along the Centennial Bridge are lit. People gather at the Centennial Bridge. Kingfield SnoWanderers light the trees and garland on the bridge. “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” is led by the Kingfield Singers as the angel leads the procession to the UnitedKingfield Bank commons.

6:45 p.m.: Gather at the Living Nativity on the UKB commons. Local pastors will read the Christmas story, followed by Christmas carols led by the Kingfield Singers

7 p.m.: Follow the Kingfield Singers to the post office lawn where the Gifts of Love will light the town tree. The Kingfield Singers will sing “O Christmas Tree.”

7:15 p.m.: Gather at the town monument to light and tie yellow ribbons on the tree to honor men and women in the service. The ceremony is to be led by the Norton-Wuori Legion Post. “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” will be led by the Kingfield Singers

After the ceremony, everyone will proceed to The Herbert Hotel, caroling along the way. Watch for elves handing out candy canes.

7:45 p.m.: Santa arrives. Santa will greet children inside the Herbert Hotel by the tree. He will have gifts for the children.

Kids may also have their photo taken with Santa free. Sponsored by UnitedKingfield Bank, Kingfield Flower Farm and the Kingfield Irregular.

Refreshments will be served under the balcony at the Herbert by the Impact! Youth Group. The Kingfield Singers will sing Christmas carols from the balcony.

(Christmas cookie donations are welcome; please drop them off at the Herbert on Friday afternoon)

Kingfield businesses will be open before and after the festivities, with discounts and specials throughout town.
