Sugarloaf/USA hosts the event, which ends Dec. 7.

CARRABASSETT VALLEY – The sixth annual Sugarloaf/USA Blues Festival to be held Dec. 5-7 features an all-star lineup. Artists covering the entire spectrum of the genre from good ‘ole Chicago blues to blues with a timely rock guitar edge will be featured.

Bluestimes featuring Jay Geils and Magic Dick have also been added to the weekend bill that includes five other nationally renowned blues artists.

Perennial favorite Mojo Mamas featuring Pat Pepin and Jan Sturtevant will kick off the Sugarloaf Blues Festival on Friday night in the Widowmaker Lounge. Debbie Davis, who is considered America’s foremost female electric blues guitarist, will round out the bill.

Saturday’s performances in the King Pine room of the Sugarloaf base lodge features four individual performers including the Dawn Tyler Watson Blues Project from Montreal. She was considered the surprise act of this year’s North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland.

Michael Hill’s Blues Mob has been described as high energy with a cutting edge New York blues. Eddie Shaw brings his traditional horn-based Chicago style blues.

Jay Geils and Magic Dick round out the Saturday night performance with their mix of Chicago style blues and classic jazz recorded with Count Basie’s credo, “Keep it simple, swinging, and sincere at all times.”
