LIVERMORE FALLS – The final workshop of the Androscoggin Watershed Roadside Erosion Control grant will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Murray Hall in Livermore Falls.

The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end by 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at no charge, but those interested should reserve a space by calling Phoebe Hardesty at 753-9400, ext. 403, by Dec. 5.

A panel of experts will lead discussions on road maintenance and management issues. Serving on the panel will be Kevin Doyle, Greene road foreman; Randy Tibbetts, Fayette road foreman; Scott McLaren, engineering technician for the project; Everett Quimby, Rangeley road foreman; and Clyde Walton, surveyor.

The grant has operated throughout the Androscoggin River watershed for the past six years. The purpose of the project was to assist communities with erosion control practices in order to protect water quality in lakes, streams and the river. Every community in the watershed has participated in the grant project in some way, by installing erosion control practices, attending workshops, or receiving technical assistance.

The grant project has been funded by the Clean Water Act, Section 319, and was awarded to Androscoggin Valley, Franklin County, and Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation Districts by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Boston and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
