UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Dainius Zubrus had a goal and an assist, and the Washington Capitals dominated the Islanders again with a 4-1 victory Tuesday night that sent New York to its sixth straight loss.

Kip Miller, Jaromir Jagr and Joel Kwiatkowski also scored for the Capitals, who became the last team to win consecutive games this season. Olaf Kolzig turned aside 25 shots.

Aaron Asham had the only goal for the Islanders, 1-24-3-1 in their last 29 meetings with the Capitals. Garth Snow made 21 saves.

The Capitals took advantage of a four-minute, high-sticking penalty to Oleg Kvasha by scoring twice.

Miller made it 1-0 at 3:19 when Kvasha and Islanders teammate Roman Hamrlik were both in the penalty box.

At the right crease, Miller’s wrist shot ticked off the tip of Snow’s glove and went in.

Coyotes 3, Devils 1

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Defenseman David Tanabe had a goal and an assist in the third period Tuesday night to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.

Tyson Nash and Chris Gratton also scored for the Coyotes, and former Devils goalie Sean Burke made 27 saves, including 14 in the first period. Phoenix won for the second time in six games (2-3-1).

Jay Pandolfo scored for the Devils, whose winless streak was stretched to four (0-2-2). New Jersey has a tie and a loss since a 13-game unbeaten streak that tied the team record.

Canadiens 3, Lightning 2

MONTREAL – Jan Bulis scored a power-play goal with 1:17 left in the third period to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.

Bulis got his fifth of the season at 18:43 when he backhanded a shot just inside the left post, moments after Tampa Bay’s Vincent Lecavalier tied it at 2.

Lecavalier, held without a point in his five previous games, scored an unassisted goal off a faceoff at 16:10 of the third.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The crowd came out to watch a 19-year-old star – but not necessarily the one who won the game.

Rick Nash had a goal and an assist to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets past Anaheim 2-1 Tuesday night in the debut of acclaimed Russian forward Nikolai Zherdev, who like Nash is 19.

David Vyborny also had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who had lost two straight.

The Mighty Ducks had their 11-game point streak snapped. The last time they failed to earn a point was Nov.2 at Chicago.

Vaclav Prospal scored with 31.9 seconds left – and goaltender Martin Gerber off for an extra skater – for the only goal against Columbus’ Marc Denis.

Blues 4, Kings 1

ST. LOUIS – Power-play goals by Keith Tkachuk and Dallas Drake in the first period powered the St. Louis Blues to a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.

The Blues killed off three penalties to win for the sixth time in seven home games. St. Louis is 8-2 at home. The Blues rank first in the NHL in penalty-killing at home, having allowed just two power-play goals.

Tkachuk, who skated in his 800th NHL game, scored his 13th goal of the season from the slot at 6:59 of the first. Tkachuk has scored eight times in nine games.

Flames 3, Sharks 1

CALGARY, Alberta – Shean Donovan on a penalty shot in the second period, and the Calgary Flames stopped the San Jose Sharks’ five-game winning streak with a 3-1 victory Tuesday night.

With the game tied 1-1 and 54 seconds left in the period, Donovan was awarded the penalty shot when defenseman Scott Hannan took out his feet as he skated in on Vesa Toskala.

On the penalty shot, Donovan faked to his backhand before pulling the puck to his right and slipping it under Toskala’s left pad. It was Donovan’s fourth goal in three games, moving him into a tie with rookie Matthew Lombardi for the team lead with six. Donovan had only five goals in 65 games last season.

Jarome Iginla scored his first goal at home this season and Martin Gelinas added one into an empty net for Calgary, which earned 10 of a possible 12 points on a six-game homestand (4-0-1-1).

Jonathan Cheechoo scored for the Sharks, who lost in regulation for the first time in 10 road games (5-1-3-1) and just the second time in 16 overall (7-2-5-2).

After a scoreless first period, the Flames took the lead at 11:22 of the second.

Off a faceoff in Calgary’s own end, Flames defenseman Jordan Leopold neatly banked the puck out to center ice off the boards. The loose puck was picked up by Iginla, who had bowled past flat-footed defenseman Rob Davison at the Calgary blue line.

On a breakaway, Iginla squeezed a shot through Toskala’s pads.

San Jose tied it six minutes later when Marco Sturm stepped around defenseman Toni Lydman and set up Cheechoo in the slot for his seventh goal.

That was the only one allowed by Mikka Kiprusoff, a former Sharks goalie who won his third game in four starts since joining the Flames in a Nov. 16 trade.

His best save was a pad stop off Patrick Marleau on a two-on-one early in the third period after a set up by Sturm.

After selling out the previous home game against Vancouver on Saturday, the Flames drew only 13,059. That was nearly 800 fewer than their earlier attendance low of 13,839 against Minnesota on Nov. 7.

Notes: NHL shooters are 5-for-15 on penalty shots this season. … Calgary’s last penalty shot was also against Toskala, last March 15, but Iginla was stopped in a 3-2 loss in San Jose. … The Flames last successful shot was April 2, 2002, when Scott Nichol beat Atlanta’s Milan Hnlicka. … San Jose D Mike Rathje returned to the lineup after missing one game with an eye injury.
