BRUNSWICK – Arrangements of fresh coastal Maine greens will highlight the Holiday Bazaar of the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary on Friday, Dec. 5, at the hospital, 123 Medical Center Dr. The public is welcome from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the cafe conference rooms.

Irene Pouliot and Kim Nichols, bazaar co-chairwomen, said the greens are made by auxiliary volunteers and are one of the highlights of the bazaar. A team of volunteers will make more than 100 arrangements for sale. All will be in containers for easy watering through the holiday season.

Tables of homebaked goods, all packaged for gift giving, will include breads, candies, cakes, cookies and jams. Many other unusual holiday decorations and ornaments, scarves, gifts, “treasures” and books will also be offered.

Wreaths may be ordered until Monday, Nov. 24, by calling the Gift Shop at 373-6018; $10 for a plain wreath and $12 with a red bow. Pick-up is at the bazaar. Donations of fresh greens, holly and winterberry may be left at 12 Atwood Lane, Brunswick, Nov. 30 or Dec. 1, in preparation for the greens workshops to follow.

Breakfast, snacks and lunch may be purchased in the cafe from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fish chowder and crabmeat rolls will be featured.

Proceeds from the bazaar, sponsored by the Gift Shop Committee, will benefit health career scholarships for coastal Maine students and MCH employees, and the proposed new hospital parking lot. The auxiliary has pledged $100,000 for the parking lot, with $75,000 already paid. About $32,000 have been awarded in scholarships this year.
