LIVERMORE FALLS – Volunteers have been busy this week decorating the Norlands mansion and, on Friday, the Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce will have its annual breakfast there.

On Saturday, Norlands will hold its annual Christmas festival.

There will be a full day of activities, including visits to the schoolhouse, a spelling bee, a tool-sharpening lesson in the barn, wood cutting in the northeast pasture, a chance to learn how to drive the oxen or help make shingles, and a visit with a blacksmith.

Also available will be jingle bell rides, a cookie walk and local crafts. The Northfield Octet will perform at 5:30 p.m. in the meetinghouse.

People attending are being advised to dress warmly since many activities are outdoors or in unheated buildings.

At 4 p.m., there will be caroling in the Ladies Parlor of the mansion, with a North Livermore Reading Club meeting in the farmer’s cottage.

Ham dinner will be served at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m., with preference given to those with reservations.
