POLAND – The Maine Department of Transportation has developed preliminary plans for proposed highway improvements to Route 26 in Poland.
MDOT representatives will be at the multi-purpose room of the Poland Community School on Main Street at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, to explain the details of the proposed project, listen to comments and concerns and answer questions about the plans.
The improvements would begin at Route 26 and Route 122 and extend north for 4.2 miles to Brown Road. Plans call for paving, drainage, shoulder and guardrail improvements. Work will include clearing, slope improvements, utility relocation, building removal, and changes to the intersection at Route 122 to improve safety, alignment and sight distances.
A plan of the proposed project will be available for public inspection at the Poland Town Office one week prior to the meeting.
