MONTREAL – Jose Theodore made 25 saves, and Andreas Dackell, Michael Ryder and Saku Koivu scored to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Nikolai Khabibulin made 37 saves and Dave Andreychuk scored his second goal in two games in the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 3-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
Fredrik Modin and Dimitry Afanasenkov also scored for Tampa Bay, which snapped their three-game losing streak.
Leafs 5, Red Wings 2
TORONTO – Gary Roberts and Mats Sundin each had a goal and an assist to lead Toronto to a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings and extend the Maple Leafs’ winning streak to eight games. Brett Hull scored his 731st NHL goal, moving the Red Wings forward into a tie with Marcel Dionne for third place on the career list.
Isles 5, Blackhawks 2
UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Alexei Yashin scored twice and Dave Scatchard returned from injury to register a goal and assist, helping the New York Islanders snap their seven-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Devils 2, Senators 1
OTTAWA – Scott Niedermayer and Brian Gionta scored in the final 1:37 Saturday night to rally the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators in a rematch of the Eastern Conference finals.
Gionta’s game-winner came with just 37 seconds left in the third, just 79 seconds after Niedermayer tied it. Martin Brodeur made 18 saves for the win.
Daniel Alfredsson scored the lone goal for Ottawa, which got 18 saves from Martin Prusek in his fourth straight start.
Thrashers 4, Panthers 3
SUNRISE, Fla. -Vyacheslav Kozlov scored 2:57 into overtime to lift the Atlanta Thrashers to a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers.
Atlanta’s Pasi Nurminen finished with 31 saves. Luongo stopped 38 shots.
The Thrashers trailed 3-1 in the second period when McEachern began Atlanta’s comeback with his fifth goal of the season, and fourth against the Panthers.
McEachern batted a puck out of the air in front of the net and put his own rebound past Luongo.
Simon tied it with his first NHL goal at 9:49 of the third period. Simon, acquired in a trade from Nashville on Tuesday, put a rebound past Luongo after Ilya Kovalchuk’s shot went wide and bounced back on the other side of the net.
Luongo kept the game tied 1-1 early in the second with several nice saves as Atlanta outshot the Panthers 10-0 at the start of the period.
Florida’s first shot on goal in the period was a wrister from the point by defenseman Mathieu Biron. After Nurminen’s blocker save, Ritchie backhanded the rebound between Nurminen’s pads.
Horton extended the lead when he tipped Valeri Bure’s wrist shot from the point on a power play.
Cowan gave Atlanta a 1-0 lead at 8:31 of the first period with the Thrashers on a four-minute power play.
After Kovalchuk’s one-timed slap shot from the point hit the post, the puck sat in the crease with Luongo out of position until Cowan skated in from the side.
Cullen tied it 1-1 at 18:11 of the first with his first goal of the season. Cullen, who returned Wednesday night after missing 23 games because of a sports hernia, beat Nurminen over the shoulder with a backhand from close range.
Notes: Florida LW Kristian Huselius was a healthy scratch for the first time in his three-year NHL career. Huselius has no points in nine games and only one goal in 24. … Atlanta C Randy Robitaille was a healthy scratch for the second consecutive night. … Ritchie was back in the lineup after missing 15 games because of a knee injury.

Bryan Smolinski nearly made it 2-0 midway through the second after taking a perfect cross-crease pass from Marian Hossa, but Brodeur managed to slide across in time to make the save.
Prusek came up with a number of solid saves in the second. His best was a glove stop on Igor Larionov with less than three minutes remaining in the second.
The Stanley Cup champion Devils reached the finals last season after outlasting the Senators in a seven-game semifinal series.

Yashin tied it at 8:15. Anderson stopped an initial shot from Yashin, but the Islanders forward fired a shot that deflected in off Anderson.
Scatchard, who dislocated his shoulder on Oct. 18, scored his first of the season to give the Islanders a 2-1 lead at 8:25 of the second. He swept the rebound of Mariusz Czerkawski’s shot past Anderson.
That was also Scatchard’s first point in fifth games this season. He also drew an assist on Hunter’s ninth goal at 17:32.
The Islanders added to their lead with two quick goals early in the third period. Yashin scored his third goal in two games, following a 12-game drought, 84 seconds into the period. Cairns then beat Anderson at 3:32 to make it 5-1.
