JAY – Three people were injured Monday morning in a three-vehicle collision at Main Street and Maxwell Road in North Jay. A truck was rear-ended and pushed by another vehicle into a car stopped at a stop sign.

Robert Frost, 37, and Jennifer Frost, 35, both of Wilton, had to be extricated from a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass and taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. Back seat passenger Abby McGrail, 7, was not injured, police Detective Russell Adams said.

Donald Hufman II, 19, of Brunswick was also taken to the hospital.

The Frosts were on Maxwell Road and stopped at a stop sign, Adams said.

Heidi Gould, 37, of Jay was in a 1995 GMC truck heading south and stopped in a line of traffic waiting for a vehicle ahead to make a turn near the intersection, Adams said.

Hufman was traveling south on Route 4, driving a 1990 Volkswagen Fox and rear-ended Gould’s truck, Adams said, and pushed Gould’s truck into the Frost vehicle on the driver’s side.

The momentum of the two vehicles pushed the Frost vehicle up against a snowbank, the detective said.

Firefighters, Community Emergency Services medical personnel, Jay officer Steve White and police Chief Larry White Sr. responded to assist Adams at the accident.

Jennifer Frost complained of head, neck and back injuries, Adams said.

Robert Frost had possible internal injuries, he said, and Hufman complained of chest pain from hitting the steering wheel, Adams said.

The Frosts and Hufman were all treated and released, a hospital clinical coordinator said.
