KINGFIELD – The SAD 58 Adult and Community Education is accepting registrations for a basic emergency medical technician class, a certified nursing assistant class and computer classes that begin in January.

The EMT class begins Jan. 5 and ends May 13. It will be 6 to 10 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at Mount Abram High School library. Saturday classes also will be held, on Jan. 24, Feb. 14, March 6, April 17 and May 8. Class instructor will be Beth Scott.

The cost is $410 per student, plus books. Franklin Memorial Hospital has some grant money available that can be requested.

Requirements for registration include a Social Security card and clean driver’s license. There is a security check also. Students 16 or 17 years old need parental permission.

The CNA class begins on Jan. 9. It will be 3 to 9 p.m. at Phillips Elementary School. It will end with the state exam and graduation on May 21. Instructor for the course is Glenna Barden, R.N.

Requirements include a complete white uniform for clinicals, white shoes, worn only at clinicals, a stethoscope and a watch with a second hand. Students must have a high school diploma or a GED. All students need proof of immunization certificate for tuberculosis, rubella and tetanus, plus a good health certificate.

The course is $600, which includes textbooks, medical malpractice insurance and the state exam fee.

The beginner computer class will run for three weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Phillips Elementary School. It will end Jan. 22.

A computer business spreadsheet class will be Tuesday and Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. starting Jan. 27 and ending March 12. Instructor is Tom Piekart. It will be $5.
