LISBON – Lisbon’s Chris Kates sank 18 points to lead Lisbon High School to a 68-50 victory over Wiscasset in boys’ basketball Wednesday evening.

Jared Ervin also assisted with his 14 points for the Greyhounds. Wiscasset’s Conrad Griffin scored 16 points.

Boothbay 73,

Monmouth 38

MONMOUTH- Buckfield’s Mike Norton and Ben Stover each tallied 14 points as they steered the Bucks to 73-38 victory Monmouth in boys’ basketball Wednesday afternoon.

Jack Shermon aided in the win with 12 points.

For Monmouth, Mark Wade scored 10 points.

Georges Valley 53, Livermore Falls 50

LIVERMORE FALLS- Brett Hutchinson deposited 23 points to drive Georges Valley to a 53-50 win over Livermore Falls in boys’ basketball Wednesday.

David Wilgis also added 13 points for the Buccaneers

Livermore Falls’ Brad Bryant and Mike Chadmond each scored 18 points.

Hall-Dale 59,

Winthrop 54

FARMINGDALE – Matt Wheelock scored 20 points to lead Hall-Dale past Winthrop.

Josh Viti added 11 points for the Bulldogs (2-1).

Matt McCarthy had 27 points and 13 rebounds for the Ramblers (1-1).

Buckfield 58,

Richmond 53

RICHMOND – Harry Hayes scored 12 points to lead a balanced Buckfield attack as the Bucks overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to top Richmond 58-53.

Scott Weatherall and Matt Lowell had 11 points apiece and Jamie Henderson added 10 for Buckfield (2-1).

Shane Hutchins led all scorers with 26 points for Richmond (1-1).

Hockey

Fryeburg 6, Greely 1

FRYEBURG – Nick Lawrence netted a hat trick and recorded an assist to lift Fryeburg Academy to a 6-1 victory over Greely in hockey action Wednesday.

Jordan Delong and Kris Charlong combined to make up the three-goal difference for the Fryeburg (1-0).

The lone Greely (0-1) goal was netted by Andrew Brisbang off a pass from Pat Fogg midway through the second period.

St. Dom’s 10, Lawrence 0

WINSLOW – Erik Russo, AJ Babineau, Shawn Longley, and Josh Dwinal each tallied a pair of goals as St. Dom’s rolled over Lawrence with a 10-0 victory Wednesday.

Jon Rutt and Pat Ouellette each chipped in with a goal for the Saints (1-0).

Brady Blackman and Brandon Gervais split time in the net for the Saints, combining for three saves. Allie Woods stopped 33 shots in net for Lawrence (0-1).

Girls’ basketball

Kents Hill 46, Hebron 20

KENTS HILL – Aleigh Mills drained 18 points to lead Kents Hill to a 46-20 win over Hebron Academy in girls’ basketball action Wednesday night.

Jackie Gershmann-Mannocchi chipped in with nine points for the Kents Hill (1-0).

Buckfield 35

RICHMOND – Hailey Brawn paced Richmond High School with 11 points as the Bobcats rolled past the Buckfield Bucks 50-35 in EWC basketball action Wednesday.

Kelly Gray chipped in with nine points for the Richmond (1-1).

The Bucks (0-3) were led by Shayna Shakford with a game-high 14 points, while Chelsea Allen who added eight.



Men’s basketball

MCI 97, CMCC 82

AUBURN – Bahadar Russell netted 11 three-pointers to sink 33 points, leading MCI to a 97-82 victory over CMCC in men’s basketball action Wednesday evening.

Rashad West chipped in with 22 points, while Omar Johnson added 17 for MCI (3-2).

The Mustangs (10-2) were paced by Chris Brackett with 27 points, while Taylor Caron scored 20 points.

Colby-Sawyer 61, Bowdoin 56

BRUNSWICK- The Colby-Sawyer men’s basketball team rallied from an 11-point deficit with 15:30 remaining to take a 61-56 comeback win over Bowdoin Wednesday night.

After trading blows in the first half, Bowdoin took control early in the second period as back-to-back three-pointers by senior co-captains Jon Farmer and T.J. McLeod gave the Polar Bears a 44-33 lead early in the frame.

But the Chargers chipped away at the lead as a 6-0 spurt keyed by an Andrew St. Clair dunk closed Colby-Sawyer to within three at 45-42 with 10 minutes left.

St. Clair led all scorers with 18 points while pitching in nine boards and three blocks.

Women’s basketball

Bowdoin 72,

Colby-Sawyer 29

BRUNSWICK- Colby Sawyer led 5-2 just under a minute into the game and the contest was tied at eight a piece just moments later before Bowdoin pulled away.

After a Lindsay Pillsbury layup brought the Chargers within one point 11-10 with 11:35 left in the period, the Polar Bears clamped down and held Colby-Sawyer scoreless for the next 11:16 Lindsay Bramwell notched 10 points in her first game of the season after returning from injury.

Women’s Hockey

Bowdoin 3, USM 1

BRUNSWICK – The Bowdoin women’s ice hockey team stopped a three-game slide with a 3-1 win over the University of Southern Maine Wednesday night.

Marissa O’Neil tallied a pair of goals to point Bowdoin (3-3-1) in the right direction. Jayme Woodgerd chipped in with a goal for the win as well.

The lone goal for USM (3-5-1) came from Audra Hill early in the second period.

Cat MacEachern made eight saves for the Bowdoin win. Karen Jamnik was strong in goal, stopping 52 shots for the Huskies.
