1947 – 2003

STANDISH -Vito A. Umbro III, 56, of Richville Road, Standish, died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born Oct. 16, 1947, he was the son of Vito A. Umbro Jr. and Antoinette DeFilipp Umbro. He grew up in Smithcrossing, Rumford. He graduated from Stephens High School in 1967.

He spent 30 years working in the Forestry and Public Works Departments for the City of Westbrook, retiring April 5, 2002.

He spent his summers tending gardens and landscaping.

Most recently, he worked as a food demonstrator for Surray, working out of Hannaford in Standish.

He was passionate about his family, the New England Patriots and his motorcycle.

He was a member of the Limington Seventh Day Adventist Church for more than 20 years, where he had been head deacon and treasurer. He also directed the Limington Lanterns Pathfinder Club.

Surviving him are his wife of 31 years, Barbara D. Langevin Umbro; a son, Vito Anthony “Tony” IV, and daughters, Stephanie Anne and Lisa Marie all of Standish; a daughter, Rebecca Lynn of Windham; stepmother, Olive Hillier Umbro, a sister, Teresa, and nephew, Joshua, all of Rumford; and a sister, Anne Marie of Jay.
