FARMINGTON – Clayton King asked fellow Planning Board members Monday to reconsider an application on the university’s proposed education building.

King later withdrew his request, which was seconded by Lloyd Smith, after he learned a public hearing could still be held if requested in February.

Planning Board members gave conditional approval to the University of Maine at Farmington application in a 4-3 vote.

That was pending an approved parking plan for the $8 million four-story educational center at High and Lincoln streets.

King had wanted board members to rescind the vote so that a hearing could be held.

King, Smith and David Averill had voted against the proposal in connection with parking.

Code Enforcement Officer Steve Kaiser said a request for a public hearing and a site walk could still be made Feb. 9 when university officials plan to return to discuss a parking proposal.
