LEWISTON – Lewiston-Auburn College, in collaboration with the Maine Music Society, will present a free concert by the University of Southern Maine’s Chamber Singers from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14.

“Joyous Sounds for a Festive Season” will be held at the college, 51 Westminster St. The concert is free and open to the public. Doors open at 2 p.m.

The Chamber Singers, conducted by Robert Russell, will perform selections they recently sang at the Washington National Cathedral. Classical works will be combined with spirituals and gospels, and songs from other cultures, as well as established masterpieces of seasonal music.

Russell is professor of music at USM and the music director of Portland’s Choral Art Society. In 1993, he received Maine’s Distinguished Choral Director Award.
