1913 – 2003
LEWISTON – Alfred R. Patry, 90, of Elliott Avenue Lewiston, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, in the company of his daughters, Helen and Monita.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1913, the son of Joseph and Marie (Boucher) Patry. He was educated locally and later employed at the Maine Baking Co.
On Oct. 9, 1937, he married the former Rolande Rancourt and together they settled down to raise their family. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul’s Parish. He joined the Lewiston Fire Dept. in 1942, and retired as deputy chief in 1977.
He took a parttime carpentry job while he was with the fire dept. and after retirement became a carpenter full time. He was a former member of the Montagnard Social Club and member of the Senior Citizen Cribbage Group and played twice a week with them until November 20.
He is survived by his daughters, Monita Patry of Escondido, Calif., and Helen and her husband Roger of Harpswell, and Bonita Springs, Fla.; a brother, Roger Patry of Lewiston; a sister, Bernadette Nadeau of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Craig and Christopher Bilodeau and Cathleen McDonald; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah McDonald, Aja and Jade Bilodeau.
Mr. Patry was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Rolande Rancourt in 1994; and by his sisters, Emma Patry and Aliette Rocheleau; a brother, Leopold Patry.
