OXFORD – A silent auction and chowder luncheon will be held by Boy Scout Troop 196 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the American Legion Post 112, Route 121.
The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes clam, fish, corn, biscuits and dessert. Proceeds benefit the scouts summer camp program.
Christmas pageant
PARIS – A children’s Christmas pageant will be held followed by the regular worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the First Congregational Church.
Christmas hymns will be sung, and the Rev. Don Mayberry will present his sermon titled “Christmas Joy” that will address finding joy in the midst of challenges.
There will be no Sunday school. Child care will be provided for the very young. On Christmas Eve, there will be two services. The traditional Christmas Eve service will be held at 7 p.m. and the candlelight service will be held at 11:30 p.m.

Christmas caroling
NORTH WATERFORD – The Rev. George Frobig is inviting everyone to join in Christmas caroling at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the North Waterford Congregational Church. Carolers will visit shut-ins and others in the North Waterford and Stoneham area.
The group will return to the church for a potluck supper at 5 p.m. More Christmas carols will be sung and there will be a visit from Santa following supper.
A candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, at the church. Christmas worship services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at the North Waterford Church.
Society meeting
WEST PARIS – A guest performance by Karen Minkkinen Page will be featured by the Finnish American Heritage Society at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the Heritage Center on Maple Street. Page, a mezzo soparano, is a music education teacher at two public schools in Conway, N.H. She plays guitar, and the Kantele. Accompanying her may be a few of her students who will depict the Scandinavian Saint Lucia and her candle lighted crown. A coffee social will follow the performance. Everyone is welcome. In the event of severe weather, the meeting will be postponed to Sunday, Dec. 28.
