Poland 53, Fryeburg 49 (OT)

FRYEBURG – Josh Pomerleau netted four of his game-high 20 points in overtime to lift Poland to a narrow 53-49 victory over Fryeburg in WMC basketball action Monday. Max Levine chipped in for the Knights (2-5) with 15 points.

Johannes Gotzlek led the way for the Raiders (2-5) with 20 points, while Nathan Broyer and Ryan Wallace added eight apiece.

Georges Valley 55, Dirigo 52

DIXFIELD – Brent Hutchinson poured 21 points into the net and pulled down 13 rebounds to propel Georges Valley to a narrow 55-52 victory over Dirigo in boys basketball action. AJ Staples chipped in for the Buccaneers (6-0) with 13 points.

Trevis Knapp led the Cougars (1-6) with a game-high 23 points, while Brandon Berry added 10. Dirigo went five-for-17 from the free throw line, with eight misses in the fourth quarter. Knapp put up a last-ditch shot to close the gap late in the contest but it bounded off the rim and away from the net.

Lisbon 44, Livermore Falls 38

LIVERMORE FALLS- Chris Kates scored a team-high 11 points to aid Lisbon’s 44-38 win over Livermore Falls Monday afternoon.

Levi Irving also chipped in with 10 points for the Greyhounds (4-2).

Mike Chamard scored a game high 15 points to aid in the Andes’ (1-5) effort. The game was well paced throughout until the fourth quarter when Lisbon outscored Livermore by half and knipped the win.

Hall-Dale 58, Jay 49

FARMINGDALE – Matt Wheelock scored a game high 21 points as Hall-Dale defeated Jay 58-49 in MVC basketball Monday night.

Joe Willet chipped in with 8 points for the Bulldogs (4-1). The Tigers (3-2) were paced by Marc Kelvey with 15 points. Justin Wells and Zach Charles chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Mountain Valley 87, Mt. Abram 47

SALEM- Marcus Palmer drenched 15 points into the net Monday evening to lift Mountain Valley to an 87-47 win over Mt. Abram.

Thomas Fergola followed close behind, chipping in 13 points on behalf of the Falcons, who are undefeated.

The Roadrunners’ (2-5) Sterling Pingree hled with a game-high of 19 points to aid in the effort.

Telstar 97, Winthrop 71

BETHEL – Sean Caddigan drained a game-high 33 points to propel Telstar to a 97-71 victory in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday evening. Kevin Zinchuk chipped in for the Rebels (5-1) with 15 points, while Billy Mitchell added nine.

Matt McCarthy led the Ramblers (3-3) with 30 points, including five from three-point land. Chris McPhierson and Matt Gingras chipped in with 12 points apiece. The Rebels held a 45-26 lead at the half, then put the game out of reach with a 52-point second half.

St. Dom’s 58, Buckfield 39

BUCKFIELD – Jeremy Richardson poured 16 points into the net to pace St. Dom’s to a 58-39 romp over Buckfield in a boys’ basketball matchup Monday. Chris Rainville chipped in for the Saints (5-0) with 13 points, while Jimmy Mayo tallied 12 and Nate Hamlyn added 10.

Scott Wetherd led the Bucks (3-3) with a 15-point performance, while Jamie Henserson tallied 14. Buckfield came out prepared and stayed with the Saints in the first quarter, then were outran during the mid-point of the game and couldn’t keep pace.

Oxford Hills 74, Lewiston 59

SOUTH PARIS – Corey Tielinen poured 23 points into the net to pace Oxford Hills to a 74-59 KVAC victory over Lewiston in boys’ basketball action Monday evening. Matt McDonnell chipped in for the Vikings (4-0) with 13 points, while Leif Kothe added 11.

Bryce Bryant led the Blue Devils (1-3) with 15 points, while Matt Dumais tallied 13 and Ryan Bellemare added 12. Oxford Hills came out smoking, hitting the first seven baskets they attempted, six of which were three-pointers. Lewiston battled back to within five points by halftime but failed to keep pace in the late going.



Ice Hockey
Fryeburg 8, Gorham 3

FRYEBURG- Fryeburg’s Bo Apt scored the game winner midway through the first period at 11:59 to lead Fryeburg to a 8-3 victory over Gorham in Monday afternoon.

Apt also chipped in with an assist.

Nick Lawrence slapped three of the Raiders’ (4-0) goals.

For the Rams’ (3-2) effort, Adam Tanguay scored the first goal of the game at 2:11 and went on to score another late in the second.
