RUMFORD – The third annual Matt Gaudet Mountain Valley Alumni Basketball Day will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at the high school.

The event raises money for the Matt Gaudet Trust Fund and the Mountain Valley Boosters. It features men’s and women’s alumni and student teams as well as exhibitions by the grade two through grade five league.

Food will be available all day, and money and merchandise raffles will take place after the games at Teena’s Restaurant and Lounge.

Gaudet is a MVHS graduate who now lives in Minnesota. He became paralyzed in a diving accident.

The Mountain Valley Boosters support Falcon sports and raise money for the Rotary Scholarship Program for MVHS students.

Seven games are planned. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for students. Players are asked to donate at least $10.

Anyone who wants to play or help in any way should contact Eddie Paterson at 364-2595 or Rich Allen at 364-7866. Contributions will be taken at the game or people may send a check to Mountain Valley Sports Boosters, c/o Mountain Valley High School, 799 Hancock St., Rumford, ME 04276.

Anyone wishing to bring a dish to Teena’s should phone Joe Gorham at 364-8700 or Joyce Myles at 364-4263.
