BUCKFIELD – A local woman has spent the past four days searching for her dog, set loose by the same person who allegedly stole her Ford Explorer.

“I’ve been looking every day and going everywhere,” said Lisa Severy, whose SUV disappeared Friday night with the dog and her wallet inside. “I just want my dog home for Christmas.”

Severy has since recovered the SUV. Police arrested the driver, according to Animal Control Officer Wendell Strout. He said the driver told police that the dog, Rosie, hopped out of the Ford when he stopped somewhere near the Auburn-Turner line on Route 4.

“I just imagine her out there by herself,” said Severy. “I believe she’s still alive. I can feel it.”

Rosie is 2 years old and a mix of black Labrador and red tick hound. Severy raised her since she was a puppy.

“She’s the most lovable, playful dog,” she said. “She’s wonderful with the kids.”

Since Friday night when the SUV was stolen, Severy has been contacting shelters and animal control officers throughout the area.

Meanwhile, she is trying to find another way to get presents to her children. Inside her wallet was $300, money she planned to use to pick up presents being held at stores on layaway.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do,” Severy said.

Anyone who may have information about Rosie is encouraged to call Severy at 336-3835
