A witness told the officer where Patrick Daniels had gone and he was found.

JAY – A Jay man faces several charges after he allegedly assaulted two people, including an officer Monday night.

Jay officer Stephen Smith charged Patrick Daniels, 20, with assault on an officer, criminal threatening, refusal to submit to arrest and assault.

Smith said he responded to a report of an assault at the Jay Hill Apartments.

When he arrived the victim came downstairs, Smith said, and he could see the person had been hit.

The suspect had taken off on foot.

A witness told Smith where Daniels had gone and Smith found him in a corner of the building.

After the witness told police that Daniels was the one who allegedly committed the assault, Smith said, Daniels got up and started threatening the witness.

Smith said he grabbed Daniels’ arm as he lunged at the witness, and Daniels swung and hit Smith on the side of the face. Later, as Smith was putting Daniels in the cruiser to take him to jail, he attempted to head butt Smith, the officer said.

Daniels was held on $1,000 cash bail Monday night but it was reduced to $200 cash bail after he appeared in court Tuesday.

He remained in the Farmington jail Tuesday afternoon.
