1907 – 2003
RUMFORD – Stella Y. Dragoon, 96, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Rumford Hospital. A resident of the area most of her life, her home was on Porter Avenue, Rumford.
She was born in Vilnuis, Lithuania, on Dec. 5, 1907, the daughter of Augustine and Ann (Butkus) Yakstas, and had attended local schools.
For a number of years she was a clerk at the Stisulis Market in Mexico, and was a proud homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Athanasius – St. John Church, Rumford.
She was married in Rumford, on July 1, 1928, to the late Isadore J. Dragoon Jr. who died in Rumford on Feb. 13, 1981.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marion Clohosey of Rumford; a son, Donald J. Dragoon of Rumford; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
