FARMINGTON – Two men face drug charges after police stopped them separately early Sunday. They had been smelting together. Each allegedly had methadone and Hydrocodone painkillers in their possession, police said.

Farmington police officer Shane Cote said he could smell marijuana when he stopped a motor vehicle at 1:30 a.m. operated by Michael Baker, 47, of New Vineyard on Main Street, Lt. Jack Peck said.

Baker admitted he had marijuana, Peck said. After a search of the vehicle Cote found some pills as well.

Peck said Baker told police that he had gotten three methadone pills and three Hydrocodone pills from Norman Beane, 43, of Industry.

About the same time, Cote heard officer Nathan Reid on the police radio say that he had stopped Norman Beane on Perham Street, Peck said.

Cote asked Reid to hold onto him, he said.

Baker was summonsed for possession of marijuana and the pills, Peck said.

Beane was arrested and charged with unlawful furnishing of scheduled W drugs, Peck said.

He allegedly had two methadone pills and two Hydrocodone pills in his possession, Peck said.

Beane was released from jail Sunday on $5,000 unsecured bail. He has a court date of Jan. 28.
