1940 – 2003

NEW GLOUCESTER – Katherine M. Walker, 63, cherished wife of Keith Walker, passed away after bravely battling cancer on the evening of Dec. 23, at the home she shared with her loving husband and her constant companion, Fritz (Miniature Schnauzer), in New Gloucester.

Born in Maryland, Aug. 21, 1940, she was a daughter of Ruth Alexander of Glen Burnie of Maryland and the late Richard L. Gray of Maryland She was also a niece of “Boots” Westmoreland of St. Cloud, Fla., and stepdaughter of Julia Gray of Texas. She was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School, Class of 1959.

She truly loved sewing and crafts and shared her wonderful skill and talent for making finely crafted toys with others through her business, Kiss Me Kitty. She was very fond of gardening around her home and going on camping adventures with her husband, Keith. She also enjoyed spending time near the ocean.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles, Post 4130. She was selected as “Woman of the Year” in 2003 for the extraordinary volunteer work she did with the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 86 in Gray.

Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are her sons, Ronald Hann of North Carolina, and Brian Hann of Maryland; daughters, Sheri Lahr of Portland and Tami Gebelein of Rhode Island; sonin-law, Rick Gebelein of Rhode Island; daughter-in-law, Jackie Hann of Casco; grandsons, Ronald Hann III, Tonner Hann, Michael Lahr, Trevor Gebelein and Shawn Gebelein; and granddaughter, Nikki Hampton; her brothers and sisters, Richard Gray and Suzanne Gray of Maryland, JoAnne Simmons and husband, David of Union, Captain Jimmy Gray and wife, Jeanette of Kissimmee, Fla., Marion Gray Iovino of Poland, Sandra Bunting and husband, Ray of Maryland, “Corky” Gray and wife, Carol of Connecticut, Bruce Gray and wife, Robin of Maryland, Brenda Wilson and husband, Charles of Texas, Linda Cano of New York, Robby Gray of Florida, and Christopher Gray of Florida; brother and sisters-in-law, Harold Walker and wife, Dorothy of Illinois, John Walker and Leah Walker of Wisconsin, Marilynn Kruchenberg and husband, Laverne of Wisconsin, and Jerry Walker (predeceased) and wife, Norma of Wisconsin; three cousins; 13 nieces; 13 nephews; 18 grandnieces; 11 grandnephews; and one great-grandniece.

She was a very loving and special person. She has touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Earl and Addy Tenney of East Union; and James and Katherine Gray of Florida.
