1927 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Joseph Gerard Gallant, 76, a long-time resident of Main Street, Jay, died Thursday, Dec. 25 ,at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Born in Wilton, Oct. 3, 1927, the son of Joseph Isadore and Cecile Cloutier Gallant, he attended Wilton schools.

On Jan. 25, 1958, he married Olivette LaPlante at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He worked at Norwalk Shoe in North Jay and Bass Shoe Co. in Wilton and later for Carlton Woolen Mill in Winthrop, where he retired in 1989 with over 16 years of service.

He enjoyed brook fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of Jay; two daughters, Joyce Greco of Pownal and Terri Davis of Livermore Falls; a son, David Gallant of Cumberland; a brother, Leo Gallant of Warren; two grandchildren, Alicia and Heath Davis; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Jewell Davis of Abbot.
