1924 – 2003

SOUTH PARIS – Lillian H. Cummings, 79, of King Hill Road, died Thursday, Dec. 25, at Market Square Health Care Center.

One of 13 children, she was born May 10, 1924, in Newport, N.H., the daughter of Victori and Ani Haverinen, Finnish immigrants, and attended school in Sunapee, N.H.

In 1943, she married Konsto Cummings of South Paris. They recently observed their 60th wedding anniversary, which had been a long-time goal.

A housewife and helpmate on the farm, she was comfortable both indoors and out. She was an excellent cook, an avid reader and a faithful follower of her grandsons’ baseball games. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and when her health permitted, was an active participant.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Rebecca S. of South Paris, Christina Ward and her husband Allen of Monmouth, Sarah Cummings-Ridge and her husband Thomas of Gray; four sons, Peter A. and his wife Kathleen, Stephen A. and his wife Lori, all of South Paris, Timothy L. of Wilton and Joel A. and his wife Lisa of Bow, N.H.; two sisters, Eileen and her husband William Tetro of South Paris, Lempi Stevenson of Bossier City, La.; a brother, Andrew Haverinen of South Paris; 11 grandchildren who were the light of her life; many nieces and nephews.
