LEWISTON – Dr. Bruce E. Condit, an internal medicine specialist, has been appointed to the Central Maine Medical Center Medical staff. As CMMC’s first hospitalist, he provides care for inpatients at the request of their primary care physician.
Condit recently completed residency training in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. His postdoctoral training experience includes two years with hospital-affiliated private internal medicine practices in the Boston area. He also served an elective in general medicine at South East Alaska Regional Health Consortium in Sitka, Alaska.
A cum laude graduate of Harvard College in Cambridge, Mass., Condit completed premedical course work at Harvard University Extension School, also in Cambridge, Mass. He earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Mass.
As a medical student he was presented the Gary G. Winzelberg M.D., ’74 Memorial Award for exemplifying “warmth, compassion and dedication.” He was also elected to the medical school’s Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and was recognized with a Student Leadership Award for Community Service. As an undergraduate, he was presented the John Harvard Award for Academic Achievement.
In 2000 he was named a clinical fellow in medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston.
He has an impressive record of community service, including work as a health-care provider and volunteer in both the Worcester and Boston areas, and in Cochabamba, Bolivia. His professional experience includes work as a researcher and information systems analyst. He served as a teaching assistant at Phillips Andover Academy in Andover, Mass., and Harvard University.
Condit resides in Auburn with his wife, Whitney.
Program set on balanced life
AUBURN – The Androscoggin chapter of the Maine Women’s Network is inviting women to hear author Sonja Christiansen speak on “Balancing Your Life.” The luncheon program, catered by Manic Designs, will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m/ at Central Maine Community College, 1250 Turner St., on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
The cost is $12 for women’s network members and $15, nonmembers.
For people who feel as if they’re going deeper into a rut or are stressed, crabby, overwhelmed and miserable, Christiansen will describe “three magic steps” to balance a life, according to a spokeswoman for the chapter.
Christiansen has been part of the holistic health community since the early 1980s. She conducts seminars in energy field theory and integrated stress management throughout the country. She has written two books, “Clear Vision: Finding Peace in a Troubled World” and “Meanderings of an Unkempt Mind.” She also has released a relaxation CD, “Healing in the Light.” Sonja has a private practice in energy healing in Auburn.
