1942 – 2003

LISBON FALLS – Daniel Lee Kurtz, 61, a resident of Wing St., died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 28, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Leila M. Donahue. Mr. Kurtz, a life long resident of Port Jervis, N.Y., had just recently moved to Lisbon Falls to live with his family.

He was born in Port Jervis, N.Y., Nov. 17, 1942, the son of George H. and Leila M. Quick Kurtz. He was educated in the schools of Port Jervis as well.

Mr. Kurtz served his country in the U.S. Navy during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. He married the former Verna L. Young in Valejo, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Kurtz were married more than 40 years.

Mr. Kurtz was employed for over 20 years by B.R.I.M. Recycling of New York, as a yardman before retiring in 1999 due to ill health.

As an outdoorsman he enjoyed the interest of fishing, hunting and cutting firewood and working in the woods. He also enjoyed watching TV.

His family was everything to him, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Mr. Kurtz had adored his wife during her life and she was his favorite hobby.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. William (Holly D.) Perry of Port Jarvis, N.Y., Mrs. John (Leila M.) Donahue of Lisbon Falls and Mrs. Jamie L. Kurtz and her husband Terverris Mottley of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sons, Daniel D. Kurtz and his wife Mary of Port Jervis, N.Y., and Jeffery L. Kurtz and his wife Dawn of Hawley, Pa.; six sisters, Barbara, Julie, Nancy, Shelia, Betty and Beth; two brothers, David and George Michael all of Port Jervis, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas.
