LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne Post 9150, VFW, and Auxiliary presented awards to students from the Lewiston Middle School for participating in the annual Patriots Pen essay contest on Nov. 30.

Essay Chairman Bob MacDonald and Roger Cloutier, accompanied by post Commander Bill Pelletier, auxiliary President Wini Pelletier and auxiliary Essay Chairwoman Brenda Bussiere, congratulated students and teacher Sue Reny for their participation.

Reny’s class submitted 34 essays on Americanism. The top three students chosen were Fatia Munamed, first place, $75; Jacob Childs, second, $50; and Shauni Morrison, $25. Their essays were submitted to the VFW district.

Reny was selected by the VFW as the Lewiston Teacher of the Year. She was presented a plaque. A lunch was served after presentation of awards.
