HARRISON – The Ronald G. St. John Post 9328, VFW, conducted ther second annual Christmas Charities Raffle to raise monies to help local groups who provide assistance to the needy at Christmas time.

The drawing was held at the monthly meeting of the post on Dec. 10. The prize, a 31-inch color television, was won by James Allen of Harrison.

As a result of the raffle the post was able to give checks for $700 each to the Bridgton Methodist Church Toys for Children Project, the First Congregational Church of Bridgton Christmas Charities Project and the Harrison Toys for Children Group headed by Susan Searles Gazza of Heritage Realty.

Additional checks of $100 each were given to the Harrison Elementary School Ski Program and the Western Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. A total of $2,308 was raised.
